CYCLONE TAUKTAE

Cyclone Tauktae hits the west coast. Cyclone has hit the coastal areas of Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra today. It is expected to hit Gujarat later today.

Winds up to 185 kmph have been recorded.

So far, in the states it has crossed, the cyclone has caused damage to overhead cables, transformers, trees, and other such public infrastructure.A few crew have also been rescued from ships and boats out in the sea.

Several flights in and out of Mumbai airport have been canceled while the airport itself remains shut for operations till 8 pm on May 17.

Hundreds of people from coastal areas have been evacuated to safer regions in Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
